Three years after investigators believe Sandra Waters Hocutt murdered her husband, she led police to his body.

Hocutt, 58, turned herself in Tuesday morning, according to District Attorney John Tyson. She then lead investigators to the backyard grave where her husband was buried.

Mobile police, the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences and a crew of forensic anthropologists from the University of West Florida spent most of the day Tuesday excavating the backyard of 2412 Vaughn Drive North. Investigators exhumed the remains of a male corpse believed to be Daniel Hocutt, 58.

Sandra Hocutt was booked into Metro Jail Tuesday night and charged with murder.

Fred Spitzer, who has lived in Hocutt's home from more than a year, says Sandra Hocutt told him her husband was on the run from police. Spitzer says he was renting a room in the house.

Sandra Hocutt is expected to appear in court Thursday morning for a bond hearing.
