Sci-fi and fantasy fans are flocking to mobile this weekend. Mobicon 12 entered its second day today, May 16, 2009. Fans were gathering to check out some of the collectables up for sale or get an autograph from a Dungeons and Dragons artist. The event also features a canned food drive competition for the Bay Area Food Bank. Stargate fans are competing against Star Trek fans to see who can contribute the most. At last check, the Trekkers were ahead by a wide margin. Organizers say the new Trek film may have something to do with the lead. Organizers say there's something here for any sci-fi fan.
“It's a multi-genre fan convention where we celebrate fandom the things we love in science fiction fantasy, anime, gaming, comics, horror, and media,” says Promotions Director Courtney Mckeand. The convention also features an all-night gaming room. Mobicon 2009 will wrap up tomorrow, May 17th 2009.
