The Classic is the matchup between Southern University and Alabama State that got lots of attention last year. Remember? They city proposed to pump 450,000 dollars into the game but the council ended up voting to give 275,000.

Greg LaFleur is the Athletic Director for Southern University in Baton Rouge and says his school is still owed money. "Well, we counted on our payment from the Gulf Coast Classic. So, it does create a strain for our department and the university. I wanna sit with the people I had a chance to visit with a year ago and discuss what we talked about."

Classic officials tell us that Southern is owed about 100,000 dollars. Barbara Drummond with the City of Mobile says the city doesn't owe Southern any money. The future of the game in Mobile is expected to be discussed as well.
