New Courtroom Battle In Water War

Florida and Alabama would would like to see the amount of water released from the Lake Lanier dam increase. Georgia says it needs the water to supply needs in Atlanta.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A federal judge has heard more than
four hours of arguments on a water dispute between Florida, Georgia
and Alabama.
U.S. District Judge Paul Manguson did not say Monday when he
will rule on the legality of water supply allocations by the U.S.
Army Corps on Lake Lanier, which is Atlanta's water supply.
Florida and Alabama are both downstream from Lake Lanier and
would like to see the amount of water released from the
hydroelectric dam increase. Georgia says it needs the water to
supply needs in Atlanta.
Seven lawsuits on the water issue have been consolidated, and no
quick decisions are expected. The case has been going on for almost
two decades.
