next meal is coming from”, says Tracie McGreal. McGreal has been there and knows what it takes to survive. Now, she oversees programs at Faulkner State Community College empowering people like Wayne Overton. Overton lost his job in the printing business weeks ago. There’s so many people looking. They’re only going to take the ones that are qualified and exactly what they’re looking for”, says Overton.

That’s why Overton signed up for the Ready To Work program at Faulkner State. From Computer skills to problem solving, the seven week program prepares you for today’s job market. It’s given Paul Wade confidence. Wade says, "I've even noticed that in my fellow classmates that their countenance is changing as we go along".

In his late forties, culinary student Pierre ViLain decided to return to school full time. That quickly led to a full time job and makes him feel more secure in this economy. “Industry’s tight you know. It's in that time as we're looking at things, going to school, having a degree program makes me a better choice", says ViLain.

Something else for people who are displaced or financially struggling is WIA. That stands for Workforce Investment Act. It's a federally funded program that trains people for high demand jobs in a short period of a time.

High demand jobs like veterinarian assistant, medical billing and coding, welding, phlebotomist, pharmacy tech and nursing assistant.

Whether it’s Ready to Work or WIA, McGreal says hiring graduates from Faulkner is a win/win situation, "They are hungry, they want a job, they wanna get back into the workforce. They have families they need to take care of". Overton says, "I want to be ready, I want to be what they're looking for".
