Play Ball! The Alabama High School playoffs will resume Tuesday.
The Alabama High School Athletic Association postponed all of its events Thursday after the state health department announced what was then two probable swine flu cases at an elementary school in north Alabama.
There are now four confirmed cases and 9 probable cases in Alabama. But most public schools in Madison County reopened Monday, except for elementary schools in the city of Madison where the state's first confirmed case of the flu was found.
Members of AHSAA Medical Advisory Board and Central Board of Control agreed it is safe to resume the playoffs.
“While we apologize for the disruption of our original playoff schedule, we made the safe decision for the children of this state and also insured that students at all our member schools would have the opportunity to participate in our post-season athletic events," said AHSAA Executive Director Steve Savarese.
