Six Rescued From Sinking Boat

U.S. Coast Guard says they have rescued six boaters after their craft started taking water near Dauphin Island.

MOBILE, Ala.The Coast Guard rescued six boaters Saturday from their 18-foot pleasure craft which was taking on water near Dauphin Island, Ala.

The Coast Guard received a call from a boater on board the pleasure craft at approximately 10:30 p.m., Saturday, May 2, 2009, reporting that the pleasure craft was taking on water and they required assistance.

Coast Guard Station Dauphin Island launched a 25-foot small boat and crew and arrived on scene at 11:12 p.m. All six boaters were rescued and taken to Billy Goat Hole Marina.

The Coast Guard crew de-watered the vessel and and towed it to Billy Goat Hole Marina.
