Man Found Floating In Pond Was Wanted By Police

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office says Willie Dukes swallowed three bags of cocaine during a police chase last week and then attacked a deputy before escaping.

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office used fingerprints to identify the body found floating in a pond as 30-year-old Willie Dukes.

Dukes was wanted by the Sheriff's Office. last week, deputies tried to pull Dukes over for a traffic violation. He lead them on a short chase during which deputies say Dukes swallowed three bags of cocaine.

When he finally stopped, Dukes had white powder smeared all over his face. He attacked the deputy and fought with him three times before running into a wooded area.

Deputies and K-9's searched the woods that night and again the next morning but never found Dukes.

The autopsy has been rescheduled for Monday.

10:56 a.m.
An autopsy will be performed today on a body found floating in a Milton pond.

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office says a citizen spotted the body in a pond near Fairlands Drive and Galt City Road before 11 o'clock last night.

The body was too badly decomposed to get a positive identification.
