The following is a press release from Baldwin County Emergency Management:
Due to information received by the National Weather Service, the Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency (BCEMA) strongly encourages residents in the Fish River and Styx River areas to be aware of flooding into the late evening hours tonight and early morning Sunday.
National Weather Service reports indicate Styx River to reach a flood stage of approximately 19.3 feet between the hours of 8:00 p.m. tonight thru 2:00 a.m. Sunday and Fish River to have reached the flood stage of approximately 15.6 feet during the early afternoon and
evening hours on Saturday.
The Baldwin County Highway Department has reported the majority of roads are open, except those that have been impacted by the rising Fish and Styx Rivers.
As road conditions can change rapidly, the public is encouraged to NOT drive around barricades and to use extreme caution until roads reopen.
All residents in these areas are encouraged to monitor conditions and be prepared to take evacuation precautions. If you are a resident of the Styx or Fish River communities who needs Emergency Sheltering Assistance call (251) 680-9924.
