Thursday morning's severe weather left its mark on the tiny Appleton community in Escambia County, Alabama, near Brewton. Several structures were either damaged or destroyed, trees and powerlines snapped like toothpicks but fortunately, nobody was hurt.

Thelma Crutchfield says she'll never forget the bad weather.

"It sounded like my son's log truck was coming through the living room."

Carol Crosby's barn was destroyed. Several trees in her yard were blown over...one of them crashed down on her dog kennel seriously hurting at least two puppies.

"I was doing all I could to hold the back door shut," says Crosby. "The rain and the wind pounded it and then that's when the trees fell and barn blew over."

Electrical power and phone service was knocked out for several hours in the Appleton community.
