Just because it's Spring, doesn't mean the flu season has come and gone. Doctors across the area say they are still treating patients for the flu.That's what's going around this week.
Doctor John Van Derwood of Citronelle says the best way to prevent getting the flu is to get a flu shot.
But if you don't, he says you can decrease your chances of getting sick by washing your hands often and keeping them away from your mouth and eyes.
Doctor Van Derwood also says if you develop a fever, muscle aches and chills...see your doctor within 24 hours.
Doctor Darren Waters of Greater Mobile Urgent Care says he's been seeing patients with Gastroenteritis.
The symptoms include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
He says you usually start to see this when the weather warms up.
Since this is viral, Dr. Waters says no antibiotic will help, but see your doctor for a prescribed medication.
Many of you are dealing with nasal allergies known as hay fever.
seasonal pollens, molds, and animal dander can trigger the symptoms.
Doctor James Connolly of Destin, Florida says the best way to treat hay fever is with nasal sprays and antihistamines.
You can decrease your changes of getting seasonal allergies by keeping doors and windows closed and changing your air filters.
