Nearly A Hundred Dogs Seized From House

The owner of the Mobile County home says he just has a big heart.

Thursday 1:15 a.m.
- Mobile Animal Control says 78 dogs and four puppies were seized from the two bedroom house.
- A vet is checking them one by one and all appear to be healthy.
- 38 of the dogs are being housed at the City of Mobile animal shelter. The other 44 are being boarded at the brand new Mobile County Animal Shelter on Halls Mill Road.
- They are all available for adoption immediately.

Wednesday 11:02 p.m.
A Mobile couple is caught hoarding nearly a hundred dogs in there house.
Mobile animal control seized the dogs last night at a house on San Souci Road.
Officers were tipped off after several neighbors complained about the noise level.
The dogs were all well taken care of but police say 53-year-old Robert Dees and his girlfriend 52-year-old Ouida Curtis will face felony charges for animal cruelty. Dees tells News Five he rescued the strays to give them a home.
"I'm guilty of having a big heart. I'm very sorry you know...sorry for the neighbors, I didn't mean for it to happen like this."
The dogs were taken to both the city and the Mobile County animal shelter. Mobile Police tell us the couple is also facing felony charges for stealing water and power from nearby residents to run the house.
