A group of concerned parents and teachers are trying to save a Monroe County school. The Frisco Community Action Committee was formed in recent weeks to save Frisco City High School. Parents say the Monroe County board of education is planning to close it due to budget concerns. The action committee is planning to protest outside the Monroe County courthouse for the next two days. Organizers say the school is being closed without hearing from the community.
“If the school is closed the kids will be going 21 miles to Uriah or bus to Excel, and this school is predominantly black and it's one of the last two left in this county,” says Frisco Community Action Committee Vice President Sheilah Dorsey. The Monroe County Board of Education could not be reached for comment. Their offices are closed on Sunday.
