Seriously Ill Semmes Girl Has Dream Come True

A seriously ill 12 year old Semmes girl has had a dream come true.
Its thanks to the generosity of local families and an Alabama group that grants wishes to children with life-threatening diseases.
The story begins with a letter written by Amanda Martin about a wish she hoped would come true.
She said, "My wish is to have a horse. The horse I would like to have is named 'Matt.' "
Amanda met Matt through a friend and rides him almost every day at a horse farm.
The young girl said, "I like him because he's always so sweet and takes good care of me when I'm riding and if I fall off, he'll stay right next to me."
Amanda has an immune disease called Lupus that can cause joints to swell, and osteoporosis, a disease that makes bones more prone to break.
Her mother, Sherri Martin, said, "Part of her condition makes her hurt, makes her not feel good."
Amanda's mother learned recently that Matt's owner was putting him up for sale, but she didn't have the money to buy him for her daughter.
That's where an Alabama group called "Magic Moments" came in.
Pam Jones, the executive director of Magic Moments, said, "We grant non-medical wishes to children with life threatening or life altering medical conditions."
Magic Moments made arrangements with Matt's owner to give the pony to Amanda: as a surprise.
Amanda's next ride with Matt was the best.
He was finally her pony.
She said, "I'm going to come out here every day and I'm going to take good care of him."
