Foley police have arrested the man they say called 911 claiming that he was robbing a bank and had hostages.
Dozens of officers surrounded the Wachovia on Highway 59 Tuesday with guns drawn, not knowing the call was a hoax. They evacuated employees and bank customers and spent almost two hours making sure no one was inside with a gun.
Police released the 911 tape of the call hoping someone will recognize the voice.
Tips led police to 45-year-old Danny Janish. They say he confessed during questioning. Police found the cell phone used to make the call at Janish's home. He's charged with rendering a false alarm, which is a misdemeanor.
