JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - State lawmakers on Wednesday honored
Robert Khayat, who's retiring this summer as 15th chancellor of the
University of Mississippi.
Khayat has led his alma mater since 1995.
During a brief ceremony at the Capitol, Khayat said he has
emphasized a team approach to management, and administrators have
tried to create an atmosphere "where respect is a value that is
embraced."
During Khayat's tenure, Ole Miss has increased its private
fundraising efforts. It was one of three universities in the nation
to host a presidential debate during the 2008 general election.
The state College Board is searching for Khayat's successor.

The resolutions are House Concurrent Resolution 56 and Senate
Concurrent Resolution 579.
