Witness Thought Luong Tossed Trash

Drivers crossing the Dauphin Island Bridge in January 2008 testify in the Bridge Tragedy Trial.

Jeff Coolidge says he thought the man was throwing trash off the bridge and was going to stop and give him a lecture on littering until he saw a little girl smile at him. Family members tell us they believe that smiling girl was 2-year old Hannah. Another driver says when he crossed over the bridge at about 9 in the morning, he saw a man straddling the concrete barrier at the top. That witness thought the man was about to jump.

A third driver that morning says he saw a little girl with pigtails move from the front seat to the back seat of the family's minivan. Family members says Lindsey had her hair up.

No one called 9-1-1 until after they watched the news or heard about the case. All the drivers identified the same man as the person on the bridge that day... Lam Luong.

Prosecutors also played audio tapes of an interview that was done two days after police believe Luong threw his four kids off the Dauphin Island Bridge.

The defense isn't asking many questions but it appears they are trying to build a case based on Luong's crack cocaine drug addiction.

The state could wrap up its case as early as Wednesday. The judge told jurors that the trial should be over by the end of the week but they might have to stay through Saturday.

Testimony starts on Wednesday morning at 9am. Crews involved in the search effort will take the stand.
