Mobile Fire-Rescue is looking for a few good men and dogs.

The Urban, Search and Rescue Team, also known as Alabama Task Force One, will hold a meeting Wednesday at 6 p.m. for potential volunteers with dogs that may be interested in training for search and rescue. The meeting, for humans only, will be held at the department’s training academy located at 860 Owens Street across from the City’s Animal Shelter.

The team currently has eight dogs and their handlers, three of which are FEMA Certified Search and Rescue Dogs.

For more information call 251.208.2868. To find out more about FEMA’s Search and Rescue Dog program go to disasterdog.org.

Search and Rescue Dogs have been used during the aftermath of hurricanes, the tornadoes that struck Enterprise High School, the Oklahoma City Bombing and the September 11th attacks.
