UNDATED (AP) - Actor Ron Silver is being remembered for his
performances as well as his political activism. The Tony
Award-winner and Emmy nominee died in New York Sunday after a long
battle with esophageal cancer. He was 62. Silver won his Tony for
playing a take-no-prisoners Hollywood producer in David Mamet's
"Speed-the-Plow." He was nominated for an Emmy for a recurring
role as a slick political stategist in "The West Wing." Silver
had a long history of balancing acting with left-leaning social and
political causes, but became a Republican activist in the wake of
9/11.
