CUPERTINO, Calif. (AP) - To say the new iPod shuffle is small is sort of like saying the sun is hot. It's downright tiny. It's nearly half the size of the previous shuffle, which itself was pretty compact.
The way Apple was able to cut down the size was by moving the controls off the device and onto the earphones. It has a switch that lets you move through selections and control the volume.
While the player has been downsized, the capacity for music is been upgraded. Apple's Greg Joswiak says the new Shuffle has 4 gigabytes of memory aboard, good for about 1,000 songs. He also says the device not only plays music, but can "talk."
It can name for you the song title and artist and even tell you what playlist you have loaded. And it's multilingual, too. It can give you the information in 14 different languages.
