TAMARAC, Fla. (AP) - A South Florida preschool is banning
backpacks and bookbags after a 4-year-old pulled a bag of pot from
his sack.
A sign on the front door of Tamarac Preschool announced the new
policy on Wednesday.
Authorities say the preschooler showed the drugs to a classmate
and casually said: "That's my brother's weed." A teacher then
found in his bookbag two more resealable bags filled with
marijuana.
The boy told investigators with the Broward County Sheriff's
Office that he found the drugs on a table in his 21-year-old
brother's room. The boy's mother says she's never found marijuana
in her house and there was none in the bookbag when she packed it.
Authorities searched the family's house after Friday's incident
and found it clean and in order. They continue to investigate.
