Participants will check their blood sugar levels over a nine-month period using standard glucose meters, lancets and strips provided at no charge. Some participants will keep a record of their readings in a book. Others will dial a 1-800 number and enter their blood sugar reading using the telephone keypad. If the blood sugar level is out of the range prescribed by the participant’s doctor, a computer will automatically send an e-mail alert to a monitoring station.

The study does not involve taking an experimental medicine.

If you'd like to take part in the study, call 251.690.8847 or send an e-mail to {encode="chcresearch@usouthal.edu" title="chcresearch@usouthal.edu"}.
