A Robertsdale teacher is accused of inappropriately touching a student.
According to police, a 15-year-old Foley High School student told her parents that Verna Bennett, a cosmetology teacher at South Baldwin Center for Technology, grabbed her butt. Police investigated. A judge issued a warrant for Bennett's arrest and she turned herself in.
Bennett is charged with harassment, which is a Class C misdemeanor. She posted a 500 dollar bond and was released.
A spokesperson for Baldwin County Schools says Bennett, who was hired last August, has been placed on paid administrative leave. There are no other complaints in her file.
Students from around south Baldwin County attend the school part time to take career-technical classes.
