Lam Luong's Letter To Judge

The father accused of tossing his four young children off the Dauphin Island Bridge says he's guilty and he wants to die.

Lam Luong wrote that and more in a letter to Judge Charles Graddick. Graddick is the judge who will hear his capital murder case. Luong is accused of driving Ryan, Lindsey, Hannah and Danny to the top of that 85 foot bridge in January 2008 and throwing them into the water.

The hearing was supposed to be to discuss the possibility of moving the trial to another county. Luong's letter changed all that.

His court-appointed translator Tam Vo reads the letter.

"Dear Judge, My name is Lam Luong. I am plead guilty for that I have done that was the matter of killing my four children. From the day they die, I'm no longer want to live but I don't know how to die. Just please grant my wish. I hereby request the death penalty as soon as possible. That is my request. Lam Luong."

According to Alabama Law, all capital cases must go to trial. The plea will now be used as evidence by the state. The trial will be held in Mobile and the jury won't be sequestered. Instead of the original 4+ weeks, the trial is supposed to last no more than 2.
