Dozens of people got an unexpected wake-up call from Mobile police.

Police went door to door before sunrise Tuesday in the R.V. Taylor and Thomas James public housing projects. They were looking for people who had outstanding warrants for everything from domestic violence charges to unpaid traffic tickets.

Police arrested a total of 29 people. Many of them were not happy to see our TV camera. "Get the (bleep) out of my face," said one woman.

The arrests cleared 57 outstanding warrants worth more than $6,800. The fines will have to be paid before people can be released from jail.

Police promise there will be warrant round-ups in the future. If you have an outstanding warrant or ticket, police ask that you pay your fine before you get arrested. To find out if you have outstanding warrants or tickets, call MPD's Warrant Unit at 251.208.6271 or the Mobile County District Attorney’s Recovery Unit at 251.574.5510.
