A Coden congregation is settling in to their new temporary home. Members of Sweet Bethel Missionary Baptist Church held their first service in the Coastal Relief Center in Coden. Nearly two weeks ago fire destroyed their century old house of worship. Last week they held service in a tent. Pastor Darrell Jones says it's good to have shelter this week. He says the congregation will keep moving forward spiritually.
“With the word of God, that God may prepare them for the work to reach those who are out here in this world that don't know Jesus Christ and we're going to continue to do this work,” says Pastor Jones. Jones says it may be a few years before the congregation will be able to rebuild.
They're still collecting money through RBC Bank for their building fund.
