The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that left two people dead and shut down a bridge for hours.
It happened Saturday morning on the Garcon Point Bridge in Santa Rosa County. That's near Gulf Breeze. Authorities say a driver going southbound on State Road 281 crossed over into the northbound lane and hit an SUV head-on. Authorities say the SUV then caught on fire.
The driver of the SUV, 71-year old Daulton Davis of Texas was pronounced dead on the scene. The other driver also died, but his identity has not been released.
This collision caused a third vehicle to be involved, but that driver suffered no major injuries.
All three drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
