NEW YORK (AP) - AT&T is cutting a little break to some of the people who have already bought iPhones. Under the deal, current
iPhone owners can upgrade to a new model at the same price that new buyers will get when the new device goes on sale tomorrow. AT&T has
taken some heat from iPhone owners who felt it was being ripped off on the new pricing structure.
Current owners would have to pay $399 for the least expensive version of the new iPhone 3G S. New buyers can purchase the phone for $199. AT&T heavily subsidizes the purchase price of the iPhone, and makes that money back through monthly service fees.
The iPhone 3G S features a faster processor, longer battery life and an auto-focusing camera.
