Trouble Tuning In

Trouble Tuning In

Digital woes come with digital technology. Are you having trouble picking up a digital signal?

NEW YORK (AP) - Get the picture? For some people who have switched their systems to receive digital TV, the answer since
Friday has been "no." Some users are finding that the idea of picking up a digital signal from a local station isn't quite as
easy as tinkering with the ol' rabbit ears.

While digital pictures are a lot clearer than their analog cousins, they aren't as easy to draw in. As a result, some people who were finding that they could
easily tune in to analog stations are missing some of the programming they used to get.

The key problem is that the digital signals are sent out on the VHF frequency band, but many "digital" antennas are designed only for UHF stations. If you're
having problems getting digital signals, the experts advise first that you try to get your converter box to "re-scan" for new frequencies. If that doesn't work, the next step is to disconnect the antenna, turn off the box or TV and turn it back on, connect the antenna and try scanning again.
