(CBS) A one-week old puppy has survived after accidentally being flushed down a
toilet in London, UK, and being trapped in a drain for four hours.

Four-year-old Daniel Blair, of Northolt in west London, was attempting to wash
the dog on Sunday after it had become muddy during a walk in the garden.

But the animal was swept away and got trapped in a waste pipe.

Daniel's mother, Alison Blair, called specialist drain firm Dyno-Rod who
managed to locate the dog, which was by then 20 yards (18 metres) away from
the house, using specialist camera equipment.

Neighbours were asked not to flush their toilets lest the unfortunate creature
be washed into the main sewer, from where it would be impossible to rescue it.

Plumber Will Craig, after discussions with the fire brigade and animal welfare
group the RSPCA (Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) then
managed to use drain rods to nudge the puppy towards a manhole cover from
which it was plucked to safety.

The puppy has now been named 'Dyno' in honour of his rescuers.

Daniel Blair has meanwhile apologised, and promised not to do it again.
