Tough Times Hit Junior Miss Competition

A rough recession is taking toll on scholarship money.

Could tough times hamper this year's Junior Miss competition?
With a down economy officials say their sponsorship has suffered.

The organization says they raised $80,000 less than last year. Fortunately their schedule of events will not be affected.
But the organization's Executive Director Becky Jo Peterson says they had to cut $25,000 from their scholarship fund.
"America's Junior Miss is still going to walk away with fifty thousand dollars in cash. We spread them out a little bit differently so that the girls that are in the top 10 instead of the top 8 will get an additional scholarship. So we've moved the money around a little bit so I think it's not going to be as impactful."

50 young women from across the country will compete June 27th to win scholarship money for their college education.
