Hundreds of people spent Flag Day on gulf coast beaches today, Sunday, June 14, 2009. Gulf Shores was packed. Some beachgoers were taking an extended vacation. Others were just hanging out for the weekend. Vacationers say the beach is a good place to forget about your troubles.
"It's relaxing, the beach, just a good time to let your hair back,” says vacationer Daron Tippins from Tuscaloosa. He says he’s here with his buddies to do some deep sea fishing. Traffic was especially heavy leaving the beach today. As you might imagine, that made for a slow go up and down Highway 59.
