Woman Charged With Vehicular Homicide

Woman accused of hitting and killing a bicyclist with her SUV while driving drunk faces a $500,000 bond.

According to the Escambia County Florida Sheriff's Office website, 32-year old Christina Rivkin is facing a $500,000 bond after she is accused of hitting and killing a bicyclist while driving drunk. 


Investigators say Rivkin was drunk when she swerved over and hit 25-year old Michael Steele who was bicycling on the side of Nine Mile Road near Pensacola.  Investigators say Steele's bicycle was dragged almost a quarter-mile underneath Rivkin's SUV.


According to authorities, Rivkin was arrested after she returned to the scene of the accident and almost hit a patrol car.  They say she was obviously so impaired she was arrested on the scene and transported to Escambia County JailRivkin refused a breathalizer test.


State Troopers say they did give Rivkin a blood test on the scene -- those results are expected in about six weeks.


Rivkin is facing several charges including vehicular homicide.
