MIAMI (AP) - A South Florida nun found herself in handcuffs this
week after she allegedly confronted a Miami police officer who was
trying to disarm a homeless man.
According to a police report, Sister Margaret Anthony was cited
for obstructing justice and disorderly conduct, which are both
misdemeanor offenses. Police spokesman Delrish Moss said she was
not taken to jail and court date has not yet been set.
Moss said the officer was called to a shelter Monday after
authorities received calls about a homeless man wielding a knife
and ice pick. The officer had the homeless man at gunpoint and was
asking onlookers to stay back. That's when the nun stood between
the officer and the homeless man, disrupting the operation.
