Thomas Kolb was ejected when his Camaro hit a tree. But that might have saved his life.
Florida State Troopers say Kolb, from Picayune, Mississippi, was traveling west on I-10 in DeFuniak Springs, Friday morning, when he lost control and drove onto the grassy median. Kolb over-corrected. His Camaro spun out of control, across the westbound lanes, and hit a tree.
Kolb was not wearing a seatbelt. He was thrown from the car and is listed in serious condition at North Okaloosa Medical Center.
The Camaro burst into flames. Kolb's passenger, 38-year-old Stephene Roberts of Picayune, was pronounced dead at the scene.
