Fellow Officers Remember Brandon Sigler

Mobile police officers share their thoughts about their colleague, Brandon Sigler.

Officer Sigler was shot and killed Tuesday night at the Tyler Ridge Apartments in West Mobile. Police have charged 18-year-old Richard Hollingsworth with capital murder. Friday, a judge denied bond for Hollingsworth.

A visitation for Sigler was held today at Radney Funeral Home. His funeral is tomorrow.

Capt. Phillip McCrary, commander of the First Precinct where Officer Sigler was assigned, said he wants people to know what kind of person Brandon was. "He honestly cared more about the people around him than he did himself," McCrary said. "He could go on a call with two guys fist fighting and would have them hugging by the time he left! Brandon was a hard worker and would do anything asked of him. He was so proud of his fiancée and couldn’t wait to be married. He truly loved her and his entire family.”

“He was fun to be around and fun to work with," said Officer Kerry Coleman. "‘Sig’ was a good guy and he looked out for me. I feel like I lost a brother.”

Lt. Travis Dannelly said “Brandon had a million dollar smile! I’ve watched him grow in his job and become an excellent police officer. He was most recently working overtime to buy a house and start a family. He had just finished pre-marriage counseling and was looking forward to his role as a family man. Brandon will truly, truly be missed.”

The funeral for Sigler is tomorrow at 12 Noon at St. Mary’s Parish on N Lafayette Street in Midtown. Several streets around the church will be closed starting at 11:00 a.m. - Old Shell Road between Catherine Street and Garnett Avenue, and Lafayette Street between Spring Hill Avenue and Dauphin Street.

After the funeral service, there will be 'rolling' road closures as the funeral procession makes its way from Midtown to Mobile Memorial Gardens in Tillmans Corner where Sigler will be buried.
