MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - University of South Alabama trustees could
approve a tuition increase by at least 8 percent for the coming
school year.
A board of trustees panel met Wednesday and recommended that
undergraduate tuition move from $5,512 to $5,962, based on 30
undergraduate hours, for 2009-2010. In-state graduate students
would pay $6,334 next fall, up 10.5 percent from $5,758. USA's
medical students would pay $19,655, an increase of $1,650, or 9.2
percent.
University fees would not increase, according to the proposal
before the board meeting Thursday morning in Mobile. The university
has about 13,400 students.
Officials cited state budget cuts for the tuition increase.
