The Olympic weightlifting trials will happen in mobile after all. The Mobile Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau has reevaluated and found the $10,000 needed for the event. Initially the CVB said they didn't have the funds. Members of the Mobile Bay Sports Authority say they're thrilled with the change.

“The more times we can get our names out there in the media especially with an Olympic event like this it gives mobile more stature with events in the future,” says Mobile Bay Sports Authority Executive Director Bud Ratliff. Ratliff says they'll also try for other Olympic sports like figure skating and volleyball. The weightlifting trials will be December 9th through the 12th at the Mobile Civic Center.
