MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The federal stimulus program is the
latest technique for scam artists.
Alabama Attorney General Troy King and the Better Business
Bureau warn that scam artists are calling people and telling them
that they are eligible for a $1,000 food voucher from the stimulus
program. The callers say the person must pay $3.95 by credit or
debit card to get the voucher. Then they use the credit card
information to steal the person's identity.
King said the scam artists have been targeting low-income
citizens in the Dothan area recently.
