The Alabama Department of Revenue is slowly processing 50,000 refunds flagged by the state for errors.
A spokesperson for the department says it's not uncommon to have questions with that many returns, but the refunds are being processed slower because of Alabama's cash-flow problems.
Earlier this month, the state mailed more than 166,000 refund checks to avoid paying interest tax payers.
The 50,000 tax payers still waiting for their refund will be paid 4% interest when the check is finally mailed.
