JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A federal judge has ruled Steven Joseph
Christopher competent to stand trial on charges of making threats
on the Internet to kill then-President-elect Barack Obama.
U.S. District Henry Wingate issued the ruling Tuesday. No trial
date has been set.
Christopher admitted in U.S. District Court testimony Monday
that he made the threats in January but had no intentions of
harming the president.
Christopher allegedly made the threats in a chat forum. He was
arrested in Brookhaven.
If convicted, Christopher could be sentenced to a maximum five
years in prison.
