BREAKING NEWS
Mobile police have identified a bank robbery suspect killed after a high-speed chase.
James A. Hill, 46, of Louisiana allegedly robbed the RBC bank at 4357 Old Shell Road Thursday afternoon. Surveillance photos from the bank show Hill waving what appeared to be a hand gun.
The gun turned out to be a GAMO V-3 air pistol, commonly used in target practice, according to Chris Levy, a spokesperson for the Mobile Police Department.
Hill fled the scene in a green 1994 Acura Legend. After the suspect was spotted by police, the suspect refused to yield to sirens, and a chase began.
During the chase, Hill allegedly threw money of his car but continued driving.
The chase ended at Three Notch and Hwy 90 in Tillmans Corner. The suspect, who police say pointed his weapon at officers, was shot and killed. Police have not yet said how many shots were fired, but a News Five reporter on the scene counted nearly 30 bullet holes in his vehicle.
