Traffic Crackdown In Alabama, Florida & Mississippi

State Troopers will launch extra patrols for a one-week traffic blitz, starting Saturday, called "Take Back Our Highways."

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Motorists in five Southeastern states
will see extra patrols on the highways starting Saturday for a
one-week traffic blitz called "Take Back Our Highways."
Alabama's public safety director, Col. Christopher Murphy, says
Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia and Florida are
participating in crackdown July 25-31. The "Take Back Our
Highways" program began in 2007 with Alabama, Tennessee and
Mississippi. This will be the first time Georgia and Florida have
participated.
Col. Mike Walker of the Tennessee Highway Patrol said every
available officer, including him and his command staff, will be on
patrol. Walker said the highway patrol will also be conducting
sobriety and driver license checkpoints.
