Today, the U.S.Senate votes on an amendment thatl would allow gun owners to carry concealed weapons across state lines.
South Dakota Senator John Thune introduced the bill. It would give gun owners that right as long as they obey the concealed gun laws of the state they are visiting. The Republican lawmaker offered the measure as an amendment to a $680 billion defense spending bill. It's backed by the National Rifle Association. New York Senator Charles Schumer, a gun control advocate, says Thune's amendment "could endanger the safety of millions of Americans."
