One of the seven men charged with the murders of a Florida panhandle couple will remain jailed in Brewton.
An Escambia County, Alabama judge ruled this afternoon there is probable cause to hold 28-year-old Donald Stallworth without bond pending an extradition order from Governor Bob Riley.
Stallworth, a staff sergeant with the US Air Force, appeared in a Brewton courtroom with more than 20 supporters including his mother sitting on the front rows.
An investigator testified Stallworth was one of the gunmen who entered the home of Byrd and Melanie Billings on July 9th, stole a safe and shot the couple to death. The investigator would not say who pulled the trigger, but he did say Stallworth carried the stolen safe out of the house.
The governors of Florida and Alabama have 24 days to work out an extradition order.
