Mobile County Pets Need Homes

Mobile County Pets Need Homes

Too many Mobile County Animals need good homes!

»  Comments | Post a Comment

This past spring, the Mobile County Animal Shelter moved into its new home on Howell's Ferry Road. But even with more space, she shelter is dealing with a serious problem. They have more pets than they can handle, and dogs and cats are put down every day. Adoption coordinator LaTonya Matthews says, "This is not a no-kill shelter. We do not have a veterinarian on staff and we have to make decisions we are not happy with, but things like that do take place here."

Matthews works tirelessly trying to find homes for the dogs. She often works with rescue groups. If you are interested in adopting a dog or cat, the fee is $25. The animals are spayed or neutered and have received their first set of shots.

The shelter is located at 7665 Howell's Ferry Road. They are open Monday-Friday from 8AM-4:30PM. For more information, call 574-3647
