Alabama To Receive Federal Aid For Virus

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius says Alabama is eligible to receive $5.3 million to prepare for the H1N1 flu virus and the fall flu season.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen
Sebelius says Alabama is eligible to receive $5.3 million to
prepare for the 2009 novel H1N1 flu virus and the fall flu season.
The funds were made available in the recent supplemental
appropriations bill signed by Congress and signed by President
Obama on June 24.
A total of $260 million was made available for public health
response and hospital preparedness nationwide.
Alabama is eligible to receive $1,934,220 for the first
category, which includes things such as immunization campaigns, and
$1,359,073 to help ensure hospitals are prepared for emergencies.
