MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A former high school basketball star already
serving 45 years for a pair of robberies has been sentenced to more
than 11 additional years for two bank robberies.
U.S. District Judge William Steele sentenced Kenterrio Scott of
Chickasaw on Friday, expressing puzzlement how with such potential
he could turn to a rash of armed robberies, starting in 2006.
The 23-year-old Scott pleaded guilty in March to holding up The
Peoples Bank and Trust in Dallas County on Sept. 13, 2007, and
robbing the Alabama Central Credit Union in Creola two months
later.
Defense lawyer Sid Harrell said Scott was captain of the Shaw
High School basketball team in 2005, leading the Eagles to the
state championship game.
