The man who was shot three times by a Mobile police officer when he grabbed the officer's taser is out of the hospital and behind bars.
Ricky Lett Jr was transported from USA Medical Center to police headquarters on Government Boulevard where he was booked.
On his way to Metro Jail, Lett, who was wearing a colostomy bag shouted at reporters, "I ain't grab no officer's taser."
When asked why the officer shot him, Lett said "Cause he was in the wrong. I just ran."
According to the District Attorney's Office, Officer Christopher Moye stopped Lett July 2nd on Government across from the Raceway gas station. Lett got out and ran into the wooded area behind Raceway. During the foot chase, Moye fired his taser, but only one prong stuck in Lett. District Attorney John Tyson Jr. says Lett then pulled the prong out, grabbed the taser and pointed it at Moye who shot Lett three times.
Moye is on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
Lett was still wearing his hospital gown when he took his booking photo. He's charged with assault, identity theft and obstructing justice.
