While the fireworks fly off the shelves at Joe's in Theodore, we stock up on a small stash too.
We took our fireworks to Fairhope Volunteer Fire Chief John Saraceno for a demonstration.

He says bottle rockets should be used in bottles not cans. In just a few seconds he shows us how a flame could form. That's one of the reasons why you are not supposed to light fireworks within city limits.
"Any of your bottle rockets or anything that goes flying up in the air stuff like that's pretty dangerous because you don't know where it's going to end up,"Said Chief Saraceno.
If you decide to use sparklers, use a bucket to make sure they are completely put out.

The 4th of July is known for filling emergency rooms for firework related injuries.
According to the Consumer Products Safety Commission, there were seven fireworks related deaths and nearly 7,000 reported injuries in 2008.
